For
a really different holiday!
To enjoy an excursion:
...you must free yourself from the anxieties
of your everyday life, and leave them at home! Walking
helps you freeing your mind from stress and problems,
relieving negative energy run up during ages of work.
Learn to live in a group.
Accept the dynamics of the group you entered; perhaps
you won’t love all the participants, but now you
are a part of that group, so learn to live with the
other for some days at least. Put into the group’s
disposal your knowledge (and, if necessary, your things)
and ask other people for what you need – not only
material things, but also knowledge and culture.
Inform the group about your feeling and your
state of mind: keeping everything for yourself
doesn’t help the group in understanding what you
desire. Inform the guide about your problems: he will
do whatever ha can to solve them.
Learn to accept something unexpected
Nothing is irreparable, and during a trekking the unexpected
is normal, and is part of the fun.
Don’t expect too much
The guide is at your disposal to help you in any situation,
but don’t load your choice on him. Try to ask
yourself why you are participating, what you are expecting
and what you imagine to face.
Trekking requests enough adaptability.
Adaptability will make you appreciate experiences that
you never thought to gain: for example, you never thought
about sleeping a night in the open air or under the
moonlight, but now you can do this!
Stop to run
Discover the peace of the slowness, learn
to walk slowly, look around you, there is always a new
flower, an insect or a colour that will amaze you. Trekking
is not a competition, the rhythm of the group must go
together with the slower rhythm of Nature.
Discover silence!
A group on tour is fascinating because you
can know other people, communicate experiences, and
deepen the awareness of yourself… While trekking
you can also recover the beauty of silence, of listening
to your own steps, to your breath, to the sounds of
Nature. Your fellow travelers will be grateful!
Walking tours are useful to learn
to distinguish between necessary and unnecessary. Then
you will discover what it is necessary to eat and what’s
not, what is necessary about the daily hygiene or the
comforts etc. Eliminating what is unnecessary from your
bag and from your mind, everything will be easier.
